STACKER NOTE STACKER NOTE
HOW TO CREATE A STACKER STARTUP DISK
(Applies to Stacker 3.1 for Windows & DOS)
STAC FAX 31501 (08/93)
_________________________________________________________________
BACKGROUND
It is always a good idea to have a floppy disk on hand that
contains the files necessary to start your computer. If your
computer ever fails to start from the hard disk, then you may
need a startup disk to troubleshoot or to reconfigure your
system. Note: Neither the MS-DOS 6 Uninstall disk nor the MS-
DOS 6 Setup Disk 1 will restart your computer properly after
Stacker is installed. You must follow the instructions below to
make your MS-DOS 6 startup disk "Stacker aware."
SOLUTION
Create a startup disk
Transfer Stacker files to the startup disk
Create a startup disk
Note: You will need a blank floppy disk that works in your A:
drive and the original MS-DOS 6 Setup disks to complete this
procedure.
1. If you haven't already installed Stacker 3.1, do so.
2. Insert the MS-DOS Setup Disk 1 into drive A: or drive B:.
Switch to that drive and type:
setup /f <ENTER>
3. At the Welcome screen, press ENTER again.
4. On the next screen, ensure that the setting "Install on
Drive:" is set to "A". You must install on your startup
floppy drive.
5. Complete the installation and exit MS-DOS Setup.
Transfer Stacker files to the startup disk
1. Switch to the C drive and type:
sys a: <Enter>
2. Label the disk "Stacker Startup Disk" and put it in a safe
place. If you ever have trouble starting your system, this
disk will come in handy.
